About the Church

Canon Francis Moran MA

I was born in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales in 1961 as part of a large family. In 1989 after Seminary and getting my degree at the University of Kent at Canterbury I was ordained to the Priesthood at St Cecilia’s North Cheam and went on to be Assistant Priest at Sheerness in Kent and then Norbury in Lambeth before a short time as Administrator of St James the Great in Peckham Rye. I was then Parish Priest at St Catherine’s Chessington during which time I studied for an MA in Contemporary Catholic Theology at Heythrop College.

In early 2004 the Archbishop moved me to St Andrew’s Thornton Heath (Croydon). Earlier this year the Bishop discussed with me moving on as I was now in my 14th year and when he offered me the opportunity of coming to Mortlake I was delighted. I am looking forward to serving this community and, hopefully, we can work together to spread the Good News and continue to grow in Faith.
