Our local area Bishop, Paul Hendricks, has been in contact with me to arrange my service of induction as Parish Priest here at Mortlake. As I mentioned before the summer holidays, I have now been officially confirmed in this position, and indeed, have been the priest in charge for several months – I certainly feel quite at home now in the parish! However, the Induction service is an opportunity for the Bishop to visit our parish and to affirm my appointment by a liturgical act. As well as being a special celebration for our own church, it is normal to invite representatives of other local Christian bodies and from the wider community.
The Mass for my induction will be at 8.00pm on Tuesday 28th September. I do hope that lots of you will be able to attend – and hopefully we can arrange a simple celebration in the hall afterwards as well.
During the service the Bishop prays for the new Parish Priest: ‘God our Father, look on your servant...May his word and example inspire and guide your people here, and may he and all those in his care come to the joy of everlasting life.’
That would be an appropriate prayer for us all to use, as we prepare for the weeks and months ahead.
A special thank you to our Church Cleaning groups who have done such a stellar job this year. In preparation for winter and then next rota, we are updating our contact details. Please could ALL volunteers on the Church Cleaning rota write their name, address and telephone number down and put it into the Parish House marked “Cleaning Rota” or email the details to info@stmarymags.org.uk. If you’d like to join the rota, who generously donate a morning of their time once every 5 weeks, please do email us on info@stmarymags.org.uk or drop a note into the Parish House.
The Children’s Liturgy sessions during 9.30 Mass are extremely popular and well attended. To help us continue to deliver these sessions in the most effective way possible we are asking all interested parents to register their children from the beginning of September for the next academic year to July 2011. Registration will take place before Mass on Sunday 5th September and Sunday 12th September from 9.00-9.20am. Please take a Registration Form, which can be found at the back of the Church, and bring along completed on 5th September or 12th September to register. All children attending from September should be registered. Many thanks. THE NEXT CHILDREN’S LITURGY WILL START IN SEPTEMBER
